Beginning May 3, Brooklyn’s Gallery Players is offering affordable online acting classes to help prepare actors of all skill levels for a return to in-person performance. Weekly classes cover Shakespearean technique, the actor’s toolkit, and audition skills. In addition to learning techniques and tips from industry professionals, these classes can help boost confidence, improve communication and teamwork skills, and gain a better understanding of motivations and desires. Classes are held weekly on Zoom and are limited to twelve students per class. Each series of classes costs $135 - register early to ensure your spot!

The Actor’s Toolkit

May 3 - June 28, 2021 (No class May 31)

Mondays, 7-9pm ET

An eight-week acting course taught by theatre producer, director, and educator, Mark Gallagher, for those who are curious, have aspirations to perform, or would like to continue to hone their skills. Get first-hand practice and insight into the acting process—from more “Method”-based approaches to external/“outside in” tools with many techniques in between—via a series of games, improvs, writings, and exercises.

How to Do Shakespeare

May 4 - June 22

Tuesdays, 7-9:30pm ET

Speak the speech! Broadway actor, Dominic Cuskern, teaches students how to tackle Shakespearean technique in eight weeks, applying it to a monologue and working together on A Midsummer Night's Dream. Great as a starter kit for beginners or as a refresher course for experienced actors.

Shakespeare Scene Study

May 6 - June 24, 2021

Thursdays, 7-9:30pm ET

Through exercises and scene work over eight weeks, actors will learn to fully bring alive Shakespeare’s characters with the guidance of Broadway actor, Dominic Cuskern. In addition, actors will be reminded how to use Shakespeare’s words and internal directions to achieve their objectives.

Audition Skills

May 8 - June 19, 2021 (No class May 29)

Saturdays, 12-2pm ET

Improve your audition skills and expand your repertoire in preparation for theaters reopening with director, playwright, teacher, and casting director, Tom Rowan. This six-week class will focus on selecting and rehearsing contrasting monologues, improving cold-reading skills, and tips on how to present yourself and your work in the audition room.
