Featured PCTF 2017 Production: "GORNISHT" by Albi Gorn

Playwright Albi Gorn brings an evening of 6 short plays to this year's 2017 Planet Connections Theatre Festivity, as six unique couples share their relationship tales in "GORNISHT."

"What connects (these plays)... is a life long fascination with how couples navigate through all the reasons why they shouldn't be a couple in the first place and still end up together. These plays all reflect my own experiences in connecting both functionally and dysfunctionally with the women in my life," says Gorn.

The collection offers something for everyone as age, experience, sexual orientation, culture, and good old common sense all join the merry dance of a dozen loves and lovers.

As with all PCTF productions, "GORNISHT" will benefit a non-profit, in this instance, Family-to-Family.

"Family-to-Family, an organization that connects one well-off family with one family in need. It was organized and is still run by a woman in my home town and I greatly admire the work she's done and I wanted to help." says the playwright. You can learn more about Family-to-Family by clicking here: https://www.family-to-family.org/

I asked the playwright what we can expect to see and he said, "For one show it's a shared love of the formality of language, for the next it's the work of a third party to get the couple to see beyond the language that separates them, in the third a dark family secret threatens a young couple until another family secret intercedes, in the fourth we see a battle of alter egos until we get the right ones matched up, in the fifth the couple must overcome their dreams of each other, and in the final play one partner must forgive the other for an unforgivable act."

"GORNISHT" opens June 14th at the Flamboyán Theater at THE CLEMENTE. See below for details.

About Albi Gorn

ALBI GORN has written more than 40 plays over the past 25 years. They cover a wide range of themes, from oppression to reincarnation to faith to justice and beyond. Often employing fantasy elements, his short comedies mostly focus on the unique glue that helps keep otherwise dysfunctional relationships together. He has been produced all over the U.S., Mexico and England and has won several dozen playwriting contests and original work festivals. Recently retired from a 50 year stint as a court reporter, Albi lives in Hastings-on-Hudson with his wife, Cantor Robin Anne Joseph, and daughter Jennie, while his son Kobe studies writing (for some inexplicable reason) at Emerson College. His work (and songs) can be accessed at his website: www.albigorn.com.
